Buying wedges on the Costa del Sol
Bounce and grind get chosen by guesswork almost universally, and it is the cheapest mistake to fix. Costa del Sol courses run firm and sandy for most of the year — the mid-bounce, wide-sole wedge that works on soft northern-European turf digs here. Most visiting golfers are playing four degrees more bounce than these conditions want.
We fit wedges on gapping first: the yardage between your pitching wedge and your first specialist wedge, then even steps down to your lob. Modern strong-lofted iron sets leave a 20-metre hole under the pitching wedge that a single 50° gap wedge closes.
