Almost every off-the-shelf putter is 34 or 35 inches, and almost nobody is 34 or 35 inches. Too long forces the hands in and the eyes inside the ball, which turns a straight stroke into a pull. Cutting a putter down and re-weighting the head is a 20-minute workshop job and the fastest stroke fix we sell.
Head shape should follow your stroke arc: a strong arc suits a toe-hang blade, a straight-back-straight-through stroke suits a face-balanced mallet. We watch your stroke before recommending anything, then check start direction on the mat.
